The Hulda Festival launched a competition among the higher education students in ten cities, and an international jury selected the ten projects that best depict a scientific phenomenon with an artistic and creative approach. “Artscist” is an innovative exhibition that presents the works of ten young students. Some works of the jury members are also presented in the exhibition.

Symposium: “Hulda Festival and Scientific Art”:

An open symposium: Hulda Festival’s partners in ten cities, representatives of the 7th Framework Programme, project stakeholders come together to discuss the implementation, the results of the Hulda Festival and the role of art and creativity in the dissemination of scientific thought.

"Ilhan Koman: Hulda Festival, A Journey into Art and Science" Exhibition:
22 September – 31 October 2010
This exhibition narrates the journey of Ilhan Koman’s centenarian boat M/S Hulda from the North Sea to the warm waters of the Mediterranean. The exhibition consists of photographs and videos that show segments from the 12,000 km journey on the coasts of Europe and selected works of Ilhan Koman such as
Whirlpool and the
Dervish.

Since its launching in March 2009, the Hulda Festival also aspires to serve as a platform for young visual artists, offering a stage to future talents such as video artists (Aurélie Nurier, Lena Athanasopoulou, Lia Psoma, Marios Spyroglou, Danae Stratou, Haris Pallas etc.), performers (company SourLiBooM), cartoonists (Tasos Marangos) and visual artists (Foteini Kariotaki, Vasilis Hatzopoulos, Babis Venetopoulos etc.) In line with this objective, the Hulda Festival in Istanbul offers a rich programme of parallel events including:
- Special screenings on the sail of Hulda and around the boat.
- Display of the work of young artists such as Candaş Şişman, whose video installation, which is inspired by Koman’s
Ď€,
3D Moebius,
Whirlpool and
To Infinity… and uses the structural characteristics of these works, will be shown in context of the exhibition "Ilhan Koman: Hulda Festival, a Journey into Art and Science". Candaş Şişman’s work
