Exhibition of the Scientific Artworks of Ilhan Koman:
Venue: Hulda Boat, Grand Harbour Marina (opposite to Caraffa Vaults), Birgu.
Art and Science Youth Workshops:
Venue: Caraffa Vaults, Birgu Waterfront.
"Vibration Energies": This workshop will use the scientific concept of Pointillism (vibration energies, electromagnetic spectrum and how our eyes perceive colour and their effect on the brain and emotions). The participants will then proceed to creating an individual mosaic with the colours and theme provided. All works will be used for a final collective mosaic which will be put up on display.
"Negative and Positive Space in Marine Structures": The concept of positive and negative space will be explained and students will be asked to choose a part of a marine structure and create the positive and negative space using materials provided. All works will be used for a final collective mosaic which will be put up on display.
"Metamorphosis - The Changing Shape of a Plastic Bottle": The content of this workshop will be focused on the environment, plastic as a material and recycling. Students will be supplied each with an empty plastic water bottle, and with the help of a pair of scissors, they will be asked to change/modify its shape. The work will be modeled on the work Mr. Barbara (workshop leader) has excelled in, i.e. sculpture work derived from recycled materials.
"Materials do talk": Exploring live/dead loads and the properties of different types of paper materials in terms of their strength when loading them with various degrees of weight. This will be supported by slide show presentations.
