Art and Science Youth Workshops:
A SEA OF PAPER: Creative workshop on the building of marine animals
(For children aged 8 to 10 year-old)
Embark for a swim in the waves, in the sand or in the dark underwater caves! Workshops will start by a quick summary of marine life’s most interesting aspects. After what will start a creative process that will result in the conception and production of sea turtles, dolphins, octopus, whales and starfish in paper and other recycled material! Children will get to better know these beautiful and.... monstrous animals by discovering their respective habits. Workshop will be concluded by a debate about the impact of climate change on the animals of the Mediterranean.
MYSTERIOUS SEA BED
(For children aged 10 to 12 year-old)
After a simple introduction to the marine biodiversity in regard with different depths (bathymetric variation of physical and chemical conditions), the young participants of this workshop will be asked to create an artwork that represents the ecosystem of our sea by using waste material such as plastic, paper, cardboard, cloth, in order to make them aware of how waste can be upcycled in a creative way. The workshop will end with a discussion during which children will get the opportunity to confront, share and deepen their opinions about this experience.
Time: 10.00 – 11.30 – 14.00 (3 workshop sessions per day)
