I am a talkative seagull. Years ago a fishhook got caught in my beak. I landed on Hulda and let Ilhan Koman help me so I could start talking again. Since then I have often been visiting the old wooden vessel and I will continue during her long journey to Istanbul. I will regularly report what is happening onboard, from my birdie point of view.

Kaowkaow!

A new human being called Akın Nalça is hanging around the Hulda crew. Every morning he’s going to a company called Terminal. And all day, he’s designing, drawing, thinking, talking a lot on the phone. A young woman called Dilara helps him together with a dozen more people. But it seems Akın and Dilara are working more specifically on drawings where I can recognize Hulda.

I saw in February this Akın going onboard of Hulda in Stockholm. Between two snowballs he made some drawings, looking at Ilhan’s sculptures then at Hulda’s deck. I think he’s been inventing a system to exhibit the artworks on the ship.

He’s been drawing, putting aluminium sticks together, talking about garden lights to hang on the masts! And sketching some strange totems wrapped in photos and texts about Hulda, about Ilhan, about the Europe Goddess who I see everywhere these days and about all the people who are running around and talking about this good old Hulda.

I think this man has a special feeling with boats. The way he was looking at Hulda, touching her.. I wouldn’t be surprised if I was to see him again, pulling the sails of the boat, in some far away high seas.

Kaowkaow**
